Handcrafted in Seki City, Gifu Prefecture of Japan, an area known for samurai swordsmithing with over 700 years of history making knives, this petty knife is a useful tool in preforming a wide range of tasks in the kitchen and on tabletops. Made from three layers of stainless steel (High carbon molybdenum vanadium steel, AUS8, low carbon martensite steel) with 99.9% 24 carat gold plating, the blade features sharp edges for smooth cutting. Suitable for detailed prep work, this petty knife is conveniently sized for cutting small vegetables, peeling fruits, and chopping herbs. The handle is shaped with soft edges for a comfortable grip and a brushed matte finish that gives an antique feel. Made by craftsmen at SHIZU HAMONO, a knife manufacturing company established in 1980 using traditional techniques with updated standards and a take on contemporary design.
