Designed by Sori Yanagi, a Japanese industrial designer renowned for his simple and practical products ranging from furniture to kitchenware. As the son of the founder of the Mingei movement, Sori's designs were drawn from the aesthetics of Japanese folk crafts; finding beauty in the everyday objects made by unknown artists, focusing on using natural and local resources, traditional techniques and methods, and handmade production. The stainless steel cutlery series began in 1974 when Sori collaborated with Nihon Yoshokki based in Tsubame City, Niigata Prefecture, a small town known as the center of cutlery and steel manufacuturing to create kitchen products that are beautiful yet functional. The curry spoon is made of 18-8 stainless steel that is highly durable and lightweight, and its seamless design makes it easy to clean. Slightly smaller than the dinner spoon, it is shaped with a flatter tip like a spatula so that rice grains can be scooped cleanly and vegetables can be cut easily. The tip of the spoon is curved gently for a comfortable fit. Features a matte finish and a satiny texture that comes with a pleasant thickness and weight in the hands. Dishwasher safe but hand washing is recommended.
