Made of oil extracted from rapeseed flowers, each of these traditional Japanese candles called "Warosoku" are handcrafted by artisans of TAKAZAWA CANDLE in Nanao City, Ishikawa Prefecture, Japan. Founded in 1892 and now in its fifth generation, the techniques and processes used to create these candles remain unchanged today. The wick made from winding dried rush around a hollow tube of washi (Japanese paper) allows for oxygen to pass through and creates a tall bright flame that flickers gently without any wind. Crafted purely from plant-based materials found in nature, these candles burn with less dripping and produce minimal smoke and soot, making them friendly for humans and the environment. Pairs exquisitely with the large cast iron candle stand by TAKAZAWA CANDLE.
